My love for nutrition and health began at an early age. My parents brought me up eating whole foods and almost all of our meals were made at home. I was always an active person, loving to move my body. However, when I was in my early 20’s, I suffered from a number of health issues including an eating disorder, really bad acne, and finally being diagnosed with endometriosis when I was 26. After being told that the only way to keep my endometriosis under control was to take the pill for the rest of my life, I decided this was not a good enough solution for me as it was not dealing with the cause, only treating the symptoms. A friend of mine recommended I go see Anthia Koullouros from Oovio Organics. Anthia changed turned everything I had thought to be true about nutrition upside down.
Although I had always eaten ‘healthy’ (or so I thought - following the AU Healthy Food Pyramid), I was told that it was actually contributing to my health issues. I was fat and protein deficient (even though I was having 2 protein shakes a day, my body was not able to absorb it) and my hormones were also all over the place. Anthia showed me the ancestral way of eating. I was exposed to the work of Weston A. Price and my view on nutrition changed forever. It all made perfect sense. I no longer felt guilty about eating fats and my body became healthier. I met other people who were also on this same path and I was exposed to the work of Paul Chek. My life was changed forever.
The more I learnt about nutrition, the more my passion grew. I discovered CrossFit and found that it was more important to me to be fit, healthy and strong rather than being skinny like the media portrayed all women should be.
After having my son, I decided that I wanted to follow my dream of helping people achieve their nutrition and lifestyle goals. I became a Certified FDN® Practitioner and a CHEK Holistic Lifestyle Coach so I could help people on a deeper level. In addition to this, I am also a Crossfit Level 1 and Kids trainer, as well as a My Health Yoga Instructor.
I have always worked in the food manufacturing industry and was dismayed at how processed ‘food’ is and how it is becoming the norm. I want to educate people on good nutrition, taking food back to how our ancestors ate, and how they lived their lives. It is important that we live in harmony with our thoughts and beliefs, as well as with our environment - with Mother Nature. What I loved about the FDN® program was that it looks at the root cause of health issues and does not treat the symptoms only.
My goal is to help you reach the greatest version of yourself. People often think that to lose weight they only have to exercise and eat healthy. And while this does make an impact, it is only part of the puzzle. To be truly healthy we need to work holistically, taking into consideration the 6 foundation principles (thinking, breathing, eating, drinking, movement and sleeping) as these all have a profound effect on your health.
Healthy is not only looking good on the outside, it is being healthy from the inside out. Having healthy organs and functions means that this will radiate to the outside. This is what Alephia Holistic Life Mastery is about….Healing From Within.
