Many of the chocolates you can buy are filled with lots of sugar, additives, emulsifiers and other ‘ingredients’ which are not whole ingredients, meaning they are not ingredients that your grandmother would recognise. I like to make my own chocolate as I know what ingredients are used to make it. I don’t feel guilty about eating this chocolate as I know it is made with good whole organic ingredients. We all need to be able to have some chocolate in our life - I just choose to eat the one with less crap in it. Making it is also a fun way to get kids to help out in the kitchen.
Try out the recipe below and let me know how you go!
1 cup organic cocoa powder
1/2 cup organic coconut oil
4 tbsp organic honey / maple syrup / rice malt syrup
1/2 tsp organic vanilla
Make sure coconut oil is melted and mix all ingredients together.
Put the chocolate into moulds.
You can add chopped nuts, berries, desiccated or shredded coconut in the moulds for variety.
This chocolate will need to stay in the fridge or freezer.
