Laundry Detergent Recipe

Laundry Detergent Recipe

Most laundry detergents are filled with toxic chemicals and fragrances, which affect our health, our hormones, as well as our waterways. Everything that we eat and drink, breath in, or put on our skin affects our bodies. All the products I use in my home are non-toxic as I know the effects commercial cleaning and household products have on our health. Making small changes to our lifestyle and the products we choose, go a long way in improving our health.

After purchasing Young Living Essential Oils, I found this laundry detergent recipe from #oilyexuberance and #lemonslavenderlaundry. Check out both instagram pages for more ideas on Young Living Oils.

  • 1 glass container

  • 3L water

  • ¼ cup washing soda (laundry booster – sodium bicarbonate)

  • ¼ cup baking soda

  • ¼ cup Thieves laundry soap

  • 2 tablespoons Thieves household cleaner

  • Add a few drops of lemon oil to enhance the smell

  1. Add washing soda and then add 10cm of the hot water. Stir the washing soda until it dissolves.

  2. Fill the container almost to the top with water.

  3. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir.

  4. Use ¼ cup per load.

  5. Stir as needed if soap and water eventually separate.
