WHAT ARE THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF CONSUMING BEEF TALLOW?
Beef tallow is a saturated fat that has been around for many years. It was the way that our ancestors were able to use the whole animal. They would use the fat to cook with, to use on skin, to make candles, and much more.
Saturated fat was demonised in the 80’s with the push for vegetable oils but the truth is that saturated fat from healthy grass fed and finished animals is one of the best things you can cook with and consume.
At Alephia, our beef tallow is grass fed and finished. You can tell it is as it is a beautiful golden colour when melted and when it is in it’s solid state, it has a beautiful yellow tinge.
We render our tallow three times to remove all the impurities and to make it this beautiful nutritent dense beef tallow.
So what are the benefits of beef tallow?
Due to beef tallow being a saturated fat, it is able to be used for cooking and frying at a high temperature. Due to its chemical structure and high smoke point, it doesn’t breakdown into harmful compunds (unlike vegetable/seed oils).
Beef tallow is very nutrient dense. It contains the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K, which is then imparted into the food you are cooking.
Cooking with beef tallow helps your body to absorb other fat soluble vitamins from your food.
Beef tallow is minimally processed with nothing else added except for filtered water and Celtic Sea Salt (to help remove the impurities). If you compare this to vegetable/seed oils, they use a multitude of chemicals to make it edible.
Beef tallow is all natural and does not cause inflammation in the body (unlike vegetable/seed oils).
